Rev. Mikayla first came to St. Michael’s in the summer of 2021 to serve as our supply priest during Rev. Pattiann Bennett’s sabbatical. After Pattiann’s retirement later that year, Mikayla became St. Michael’s regular supply priest.
In April 2023 during an official visit of the Rt. Rev. Marty Stebbins, the Vestry voted to hire Rev, Mikayla as a one-quarter-time Rector. In this capacity she cares for the spiritual wellbeing of the congregation through worship planning, preaching, administrative organization, pastoral care, and (occasionally) party planner.
Rev. Mikayla Dunfee attended the University of South Dakota, earning both a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish. She attended seminary at Yale Divinity School, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 2016. In that same year, Mikayla was ordained to the priesthood at the 159th Niobrara Convocation in Eagle Butte, South Dakota.
Mikayla’s other hat is that of Canon to the Ordinary, working for the Diocese of Montana.
She is married to the Rev. Charlie Knuth, who serves as rector of All Saint’s Church, Columbia Falls. The two reside in Whitefish with their daughter Ana Magdalena and an old lazy mutt named Luya (Lulu). When time and weather allow, the family enjoys fly fishing, gardening, and croquet.
Rev. Mikayla will never ask you for a gift card.
