Seeking to serve Christ in all people.

Maybe it sounds hackneyed… but we take this promise in the Baptismal Covenant very seriously. We know that Christ died and forged the path of resurrection for all people and so in our own humble way, we strive to do honor that sacrifice in the face of all our neighbors.

St. Michael and All Angels church has a long legacy of service.
Read up about some of our current ministries below.

Happy Hookers Prayer Shawl Guild

Our knitting and crocheting group gathers every Thursday at 1pm to knit and crochet. The projects might be personal or may be intended for outreach. Annually, we distribute over 100 prayer shawls, plus hats and scarves through our “need a hat, take a hat” program.

All experiences and abilities are welcome. Even if you’ve never picked up a crochet hook, the fellowship of “hookers” are “happy” to teach.

The Wood Bank

Last year almost 300 pick-up loads full of wood were distributed to our neighbors around the Tobacco Valley region. This service is entirely driven by volunteers who acquire, cut, split, stack, and deliver.

Our first priority is to serve the elderly, disabled folks, veterans, and single parents with children at home, but there’s enough to share with anyone in need.

All are welcome to join a Saturday work day. Just ask for directions.

If you are in need of wood, please reach out to our Rector Emerita, Pattiann Bennett.

The Messenger

A quarterly newsletter is printed, mailed, and emailed thanks to the tireless work of our Messenger Editor, Sharon.

You might think you know church newsletters, but I assure you: nothing can prepare you for St. Michael & All Angels Messenger. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. You’ll be delighted by the pictures of cute kids. Your brain will be stretched by the puzzles and brain teasers. You might even learn something.

Sign up for it. You won’t regret it.

Soup Café

Beginning the first week of November, our parish prepares a simple and delicious soup lunch every Thursday from 11-1, which is open to the public.

Soup Café operates all through the cold season, wrapping up somewhere around Easter.

The meal is provided at no cost, though a free will offering is accepted. If you’re interested in providing a soup or bread—or if you’re interested in helping to host the meal—just ask! We try to rotate all these responsibilities.
